Class Schedule

Each morning students enter into a welcoming classroom.  Once inside, students look to a SmartBoard which gives instructions on what they should do before class begins.

Students start their independent morning work, a spiral review of previously learned skills.  Once complete students use a program named Door 24 on an I-pad to practice becoming fluent with math facts.

Direct Instruction:  As a new concept is introduced, students participate in several activities to solidify their understanding of the concept. Students write his/her ideas/thoughts to questions posed by the teacher with his/her peers in the interactive notebook.  Students then discuss those ideas with a shoulder partner or small group.  Students also collaborate with each other in order to complete academic tasks.

Stations:  Students circulate through four academic stations at least twice a week.  Each station and its description is listed below.

Teacher-Led:  A small group of students work directly with the teacher

Hands-On:  Students use manipulatives to deepen their understanding of a concept

Computer:  Students use the IXL and I-Ready computer program to practice skills and concepts

Independent:  Students work individually to practice skills introduced during the week.
